Welcome to the final day of the Music Education and Social Theory PhD course! As usual, we meet in Zoom at 10.00-14.00, Oslo time.

This final session will take the form of a collaborative workshop, where we draw together theoretical insights, methodological reflections, and analytical practices explored throughout the course. Taking your group assignment as a point of departure, our focus is on how social theory can be operationalised in empirical analyses. This include considerations of how to 're-present' the social dynamics of music education. We will also discuss articles suggested by participants.

Preparations:

Please come prepared to present your group assignment. Specifically, you should be ready to:

Identify an event, text, or happening you are considering addressing in your commentary.
Explain why you find it relevant to the field of music education.
Share any thoughts on what forms of social theorising you might use to analyse it.

We'll use your presentations as a starting point to discuss the analytical possibilities that different forms of social theorising can offer. This is a space to test out analytical thinking and engage in constructive conversation. It is also a moment to reflect on what it means to do theory-informed, socially engaged research in the field of music education.
