The student should be able to choose good sources for academic texts in their studies.

You will increase your competence in:

Identifying academic sources through knowledge of genre characteristics.
Orienting yourself in your field's authoritative sources that are relevant to an academic topic.
Assess sources to determine their credibility, and demonstrate understanding of the variables that can undermine this credibility.

You will work on these topics to reach the learning objectives:

The concepts of information literacy and source criticism.
What external and internal source criticism is, and how you can use it to determine if the source you have found is appropriate to use in your work.
What questions you can ask yourself to maintain a critical distance from your sources.
Which sources you should not use in your academic work.
